The efforts of the Provincial Government of Bataan (PGB) through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) paid off after they ranked 2nd in Central Luzon in the implementation of the High-Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP) of the Department of Agriculture recently.
Aside from implementing the regular programs under HVCDP, the OPA even added initiatives funded by the LGU such as the distribution of plastic crates for mango rehabilitation, construction of greenhouse with hydroponics, awarding of farm tractors to farmers’ associations, delivery of cacao seedlings, Gulayan ng Bayan and Gulayan sa Paaralan program, and the distribution of seedlings of fruit-bearing trees and peanut seeds.
Provincial Agriculturist Engr. Johanna Dizon is very grateful for the award as her staff, especially the HVCD staff who worked hard for the award, are on the field working non-stop even in times of community quarantines. She is hopeful that this award will further boost the OPA staff’s morale as they continue to roll out more programs for agriculture.
She also hinted that a more significant opportunity awaits farmers as the 1Bataan Agri-Inno Tech Corp’s rollout, which started in Dinalupihan, producing high-value crops, will soon materialize.
