Bataan reaps two regional GAPAS awards

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The Department of Social Welfare and Development gives recognition to its various partners and stakeholders through the “Pagkilala sa Natatanging Kontribusyon sa Bayan (PaNata Ko sa Bayan) Awards.” The PaNaTa awards serves as one of the highlights of the Department’s annual anniversary celebration, the department’s way of giving due recognition and appreciation  to the various groups and individuals who help the DSWD implement its mandate to serve the Filipino people not only during calamities and emergencies, but also during the course of their daily lives as they seek to improve the lives of their children and their families.

One of the awards under the PaNATA is the Gawad Paglilingkod sa Sambayanan (GAPAS) – an award given to either a Local Government Unit (LGU), or an NGO which has introduced a new and effective social technology, the use of which has led to the creation of a best practice.

For the year 2017, Bataan reaped two (2) GAPAS awards in the Regional level namely: the Model LGU supporting implementation of daycare services and the Samahan ng Taong may Kapansanan sa Bataan (SATAMAKABA) as the Best People Organization.

This makes the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office of Bataan under Mrs. Marilyn C. Tigas a contender to the national PaNATA – GAPAS awards that will be held sometime this month.

Keep up the good work!
