BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Senior citizens in the province proved that they can still sing and groove as they took the limelight during the Senior Citizens’ Night Variety Show held at the Bataan Peninsula State University Main Campus.
Officers and members of Bataan Federation of Senior Citizens Association of the Philippines from the 11 municipalities and one city engaged in a friendly competition of chorale and dance numbers.
The activity was organized by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office in partnership with the Provincial Tourism Office and the Bataan Peninsula Tourism Council Foundation, Inc.
BPTCFI Board of Trustee Isabel Garcia cited the important role of the elderly in the family as well as in the community.
“I would like to acknowledge your contributions to the continuous growth of Bataan. The wisdom, good manners, and the love for the province you share to others are unparalleled,” Garcia said to about 600 participating senior citizens.
The choral group from Mariveles town emerged victorious as they serenade the crowd with a combination of pop and folk songs. It received a certificate and Php10,000 cash prize.
The activity is part of Bataan’s observance of the 76th Araw ng Kagitingan.
