ABUCAY, Bataan– The municipal government of this town has allotted P 6.3 million for the proposed relocation site of some l,730 informal settlers in the six (6) barangays mostly in coastal villages under its comprehensive socialized housing development scheme.
Engineer Ernesto S. Vergara, Abucay town municipal administrator and concurrent municipal planning and development officer, stressed that Mayor Liberato Santiago, Jr. and the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) are carefully assessing for a suitable location which would adequately provide displaced residents, majority of them are fisher folks , productive and alternative sources of livelihood in the new community.
He said the local government is readying the transfer site with available basic social services, school, and adjacent to the town proper and church for the benefit of the informal dwellers.
Engineer Vergara said the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is preparing a package of skills training program to assist the informal dwellers in acquiring technical knowledge of job opportunities both local and abroad.
Meanwhile, the local authorities are organizing food preparation and small business seminar workshops for housekeepers and other members of the displaced families as significant option to generate additional income, Vergara added.
