Bataan Election 2019 generally peaceful

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Bataan PNP Provincial Director, Col. Villamor Tuliao said that the 2019 midterm election is generally peaceful with no reports of any untoward incident except for the two voting counting machines (VCM) in Orani town that reportedly malfunctioned but were immediately replaced.

PD Tuliao said that their 667 cops who were on duty province wide with an augmentation of 123 officers from the Armed Forces of the Phil., SAF and Regional Mobile Force Batallion have monitored the 167 polling centers, 695 clustered precincts matching the increased registered voters of 545,507 for the whole province and reported a much improved peace and order situation.

During the election process yesterday, COMELEC said that voters in large numbers trooped to their precincts in excitement and were assisted by teachers and other election staff giving priority to senior citizens, persons with disabilities and pregnant women while some schools even provided holding areas for voters awaiting their turn as well as some DSWD day care workers assisted mothers with children, as they cast their votes.

A total of 871 cases of health problems such as dizziness, headaches and high blood pressures due to hot weather and populous voters who were given first aid was reported by PHO.

As of 7:30pm last night, the towns who have finished casting their votes were Morong, Abucay, Samal, Orion, Bagac, Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Pilar, Balanga City, and Limay leaving the coastal towns of Mariveles and Orani to finish casting their votes, while the town of Hermosa was the first to complete transmission of results to the Provincial Board of Canvassers followed by the towns of Bagac, Limay, Morong and Orani.

The BOC will reconvene at 10:00am this morning.
