BNHS holds Dengvaxia symposium

CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – In response to the dengue vaccine scare caused by a press release issued several months ago by Sanofi Pasteur, the Pharmaceutical Company that produced Dengvaxia, the City Health Office conducted a symposium to increase the awareness of Grade 7 students who were given the vaccine.

The said activity focused on eliminating the confusions and fear circulating on the Dengvaxia vaccine, as the resource speaker, Vilma Rodrigo, Maternal-Child Health Program Coordinator, answered the FAQs on Dengue Immunization.

In addition, the Villa Lina Health Center provided data on the number of children who received the immunization in order to closely monitor them and give medical assistance to those affected with the Dengue Virus after vaccination.

Rodrigo also explained the importance of healthy meals and good hygiene in making the immune system strong to fight off the Dengue Virus.

“Maganda yung mga ganitong activity para maiwasan ang sakit. Kapag healthy and safe ang ating mga estduyante happy sila at mas gaganahan pang mag-aral,” Ms. Merlinda C. Dominguez, BNHS school principal, said.

Meanwhile, according to a letter sent to the parents by the Department of Health (DOH) Secretary, Francisco T. Duque III, DOH is giving the vaccine recipients the assurance that the DOH is shouldering the hospital bills once they are admitted for Dengue.
