MARIVELES, Bataan – The Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) fully backs the recently launched Battle for Manila Bay.
“We have 12,000 students, we will help in cleaning the Manila Bay under NSTP”, said BPSU President Dr. Greg Rodis who led the university contingent in joining the simultaneous launching of the Battlle for Manila Bay in Villa Imperial, Brgy. Lucanin, Mariveles on Sunday.
“We are already doing the cleanup of the bay, we will just continue and strengthen it. We have also been conducting mangrove-planting in the area”, he added.
The BPSU team also distributed rice porridge to volunteers who joined the lanching and cleanup activity.
Organized by the DENR-Bataan thru the leadership of Penro Raul Mamac, the simultaneous launching here attracted about 1,600 volunteers and government workers.
Bataan 2nd District Cong. Joet Garcia, heading local officials, and DENR Region 3 Asst. Director Art Salazar led the provincial launching of the ‘battle’. The national launching was led by Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu.
Other local officials who joined the launching were Mariveles Mayor AJ Concepcion, Mariveles Councilors Tito Catipon, Angel Sunga, and Susan Murillo, and Lucanin Brgy. Capt. Ludy Funilas.
The Battle for Manila Bay is a 7-year program of Duterte Administration to sustainably clean and rehabilitate the Manila Bay.
