BPSU chess players to represent Balanga in inter-city tournament

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Two top players from Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) will be representing Balanga in the Inter-City Chess Tournament on April 3 in Angeles City.

“We are finalizing the representing of Balanga by Erickson Marimla and Josel Moreno from BSPU in the inert-city tournament”, said Rolly Rosal, president of Balanga City Chess Club.

“Balanga will have good chances in the said tournament with in good form chess players like Marimla and Moreno”, he added.

Marimla is the trainer for BPSU women’s team turning it one of the most feared collegiate women’s team in Central Luzon.

The BPSU chess teams are consistently winning the State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) and Universities and Colleges Athletic Association of Bataan (UCAAB) for the past years.

Marimla is an active tournaments player gunning for national master title. He recently won a tournament in Baguio where a national master also competed.

On the other hand, Moreno was gold medalist in the recent SCUAA and UCAAB, respectively.

The Inter-City Chess Tournament is sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines.
