ABUCAY, Bataan – The Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) recently launched its DA-RFO 3 (Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office 3)-funded research project entitled “Community-Based Rice-Mushroom Production Technologies and Innovations in Bataan for Sustainable Development” at the Farmer’s Training Center, BPSU-Abucay Campus, last Jan. 31.
Dr. Arthur Dayrit of the DA-RFO3; Hon. Gaudencio Ferrer, Community Extension Specialist of BPSU; Dr. Rudy Flores, Vice-President for Research, Extension and Training and Dr. Hermogenes Paguia, Research and Development Office Director graced the event and gave their imspirational messages. Engr. Jonathan Lacayanga, Abucay Campus director welcomed the participants.
Mr. Arturo Matias and Ms. Julie Ann Dizon, municipal agriculturists of Orani and Pilar, respectively, and Mr. Ronie Lopez represented Ms. Nerissa Mateo, city agriculturist of Balanga, also attended the event.
Dr. Rina Paguia, project leader, presented the cooperators and adopters of this community-based rice-mushroom project while Mr. Christian Balba, study leader, reported the project management guidelines and intervention.
After the launching of the project, a MOA signing was executed to further strengthen this noteworthy undertaking.
An open forum was conducted to accommodate the questions and clarifications raised by the farmer cooperators and adopters prior to the formation of the rice-mushroom association named Farmer-Innovators of Bataan Association (FIBA). Mr. Norberto Paguia, a farmer cooperator from the City of Balanga, was elected as president.
Support staff of the project, Ms. Mary Grace P. Santos, served as emcee and Ms. Mirasol Rosano prepared the presentations and documents.
