MABALACAT, Pampanga – The Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) through its Office of Extension Services (OES) conducted a 2-day training for Pampanga farmers on mango production.
Dr. Hermogenes Paguia, Director of BPSU Extension Services, said the modules discussed to participants were Canopy Development and Pruning, Flush Induction, Growth Regulation, Flower Induction, Pesticide Management, and Integrated Nutrient Management. Demonstration on pruning, cultar application, and fertilization were also done at the model farm.
Participants included agricultural technologists and mango growers in Pampanga, and farm personnel of Zoocobia Mango Park in Mabalacat. The training was held in Zoocobia recently.
Aside from Paguia, other technology experts who served as resource speakers were Dr. Conrado Oliveros, Dr. Arturo Alegado, and Alex Layson.
The BPSU extension services director said the training aims to encourage existing or new farming enterprises to adopt the full application of package of technologies to attain “technology convergence”, and increase farm productivity and maximize profitability of farmers.
The training was funded by DOST PCAARRD through its Science and Technology Model Farm program.
