BPTCFI chair urges media practitioners: inspire youth on veterans’ heroic deeds

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Mrs. Vicky S. Garcia, chairperson of Bataan Peninsula Tourism Council Foundation, Inc. (BPTCFI), has encouraged members of the Fourth Estate to instill in the younger generations the similar qualities of courage and determination of our patriotic veterans to put up with valiant resistance whatever challenges that will confront our nation and our people in the future.

Mrs. Garcia   expounded yesterday on the activities starting from March 24 with a Freedom Trail, Galing Bataan Trade Fair, History Quiz, Senior Citizens’ Night, Bataan Cooperatives Night and other programs up to April 9, during a press conference held at the Bulwagan ng Bayan for the observance of the 76th Commemoration of Araw ng Kagitingan on April 9 atop Mount Samat in Pilar town, this province.

Also present in the mini-press conference were Mr. Mike Villareal, vice president of Philippine Veterans Bank and Architect Tetchie Banzon Enriquez, Bataan Provincial Tourism Officer.

The BPTCFI chair explained the annual celebration of Araw ng Kagitingan would make the trip to Mount Samat definitely worthwhile for visitors to undergo a one of a kind nostalgic encounter of the World War II history.

She cited the Mount Samat Shrine offers numerous sights and activities with the unifying theme that is heroism, history and heritage.

Dambana ng Kagitingan is a historical shrine located near the summit of Mount Samat in Pilar, Bataan. This memorial shrine complex was built to honor and remember the gallantry of Filipino and American soldiers who fought and died in the historic bastion of freedom during World War II.
