Civil Registration Quiz highlights 2016 CR Month

CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – The Municipality of Samal through the Local Civil Registry Office (LCR) and Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Bataan Provincial Statistical Office conducted the Civil Registration (CR) Quiz among selected Grade VI pupils as the highlight of the Civil Registration Month – February 2016, held at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall, Samal, Bataan last February 22.

Municipal Civil Registrar Josefina E. Cortez proclaimed France Kathrine Santos of Samal South Elementary School as Champion after three rounds and four tie breaking questions. Ms. Julieta D. Vicente served as Santos’ official coach. Completing the top five winners are John Kio P. Santos of Calaguiman Elementary School – 2nd place, Elisse Faith L. Apostol of Samal North Elementary School – third place, Reinalynne T. Garcia of Sapa Elementary – fourth place and Charles M. Dimalante of St. Catherine of Sienna Academy– fifth place.

The board of judges who helped determine the winners was composed of Provincial Statistics Officer of PSA Bataan Ledesma L. Morante, PSA staff Rosario C. De Leon and Municipal Civil Registrar of Pilar Haidee G. Gunio.

PSO Morante gave an inspirational message to pupils during the earlier part of the program. Another PSA staff, Richard T. Guevara acted as Master of Ceremonies and Quiz Master.

MCR Cortez previously organized CR Quizzes to High School Students and Barangay Secretaries and this is only the first time for grade school pupils. The other activities that the Municipality of Samal carried out this year are Training Workshop on Civil Registration for Health Personnel on February 23, 2016 and Training Workshop on Civil Registration for Solemnizing Officers and Secretary/Clerk on February 24, 2016.

This year’s theme for the celebration of civil registration month is “Makiisa… Makisali sa Dekadang CRVS”.

PSA is the major statistical agency responsible in collecting, compiling, classifying, producing, publishing, and disseminating general-purpose statistics. Its function includes carrying out, enforcing and administering Commonwealth Act 3753 in the delivery of civil registration services as directed by Republic Act 10625.
