BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Bataan Second Dist. Rep. Jose Enrique S. Garcia III has filed House Bill No. 5807 to fully develop the Balanga Wetland and Nature Park into a tourist destination.
Garcia filed the bill entitled “An Act Declaring Balanga Wetland and Nature Park (BWNP) As A Responsible Community-Based Eco-Tourism Zone And Appropriating Funds Therefor” last year following clamor from tourists, both local and abroad for more modern facilities.
In his explanatory note, Garcia said the BWNP when fully developed would generate investment and create job opportunities while protecting the natural resources.
The BWNP had been host to thousands of migratory birds and has become an enormous site for bird-watching not only in Central Luzon but in the whole country.
It is situated on 80.4 hectare coastal area in Barangay Tortugas where the annual “Ibong Dayo” Festival is held. The festival draws crowd from all over Central Luzon provinces.
