DA visits Orion farming, fishing villages

To cushion the impact of climate change, the national government, in partnership with local government units and stakeholders have to introduce improvement in the barangay level to benefit farmers and fisherfolk.

This was the key objective of Department of Agriculture Assistant Secretary Joycel R. Panlilio and other department officials who visited Barangay Daan-Pare and Barangay Wawa in Orion last October 7 together with Mayor Antonio L. Raymundo, Jr.

The visit was made to assess the site for DA’s planned port improvement program for the benefit of thousands of farmers and fishermen in the areas affected by typhoons and incessant rains.

The key component of DA’s Port Improvement Program includes modernizing port facilities such as breakwaters, docks, and cranes to increase capacity and efficiency.
