BALANGA CITY, Bataan – “We cannot go forward unless we train our children how to think scientifically and how to think critically.”

This was the statement of Department of Education (DepEd) Bataan Division Superintendent Jessie D. Ferrer in the turn-over of PASCO science equipment for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Track students during the traditional flag ceremony at Bataan People’s Center this morning.

In partnership with Science Star Corporation, the leading provider of innovative science equipment in the Philippines, PASCO Scientific aims to provide solutions for the teachers and educators to learn science and for the students to embrace science through state-of-the-art Laboratory Equipment and Data logging Technologies.

The system that this technology offers is platform-independent which can run on PCs, Macs, tablets, smartphones, or Chromebooks, and includes wired and wireless capabilities depending on availability of computers or tablets in the school.

In support, DepEd Science Education Program Supervisor Jerry D. Diwa said that this technology promotes lesser paper works for the data they will gather from an experiment will direct to the device included in the package.

Traditional laboratory apparatuses and equipment are no longer in, but instead they are replaced with technologies that include wireless sensors, Bluetooth, and Global Positioning System.

Meanwhile, Diwa said the first 10 school recipients of these equipment are the public schools that have the most number of STEM enrollees. These schools shall have three computer literate science teachers, one each in the field of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, who will undergo trainings on May 17-18.

The procured Senior High School science laboratory equipment and manuals will be given to the following schools: Limay National High School, Justice Emilio A.
