DILG to conduct SK mandatory training

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Prior to the forthcoming Barangay and SK elections on May 14, the Department of the Internal and Local Government (DILG) Bataan has scheduled the mandatory training for the Sangguniang Kabataan elect officers on May 16-24 at Lou-is Restaurant in this City, and Travelers Hotel in Subic.

This mandatory training and orientation was first spilled nationally on January 25 by the power of DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2018-07 which contained the legal bases and other concerns for this action.

Among the five topics to be discussed during the training are Decentralization and Local Governance, SK History and Salient Features, Meetings and Resolutions, Planning and Budgeting, and Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards.

According to Local Government Operations Officer Johnny F. Mandocdoc, this training is significant for the SK officers because it will orient them on their duties and function before they assume their position on June 30.

“Dati kasi ‘yung mga SK elect nag-aassume sila ng kanilang mga duties and functions pero hindi pa sila nabibigyan ng proper training or orientation on how to carry out their mandates. This time, right after their election, on May 16 – 24 here in the province of Bataan, they will undergo Sangguniang Kabataan Mandatory Training,” he said.

Further, he said that SK elect officers must attend this training otherwise it may be a ground for disqualification.
