Engr. Tanciongco …. committed, dedicated, devoted

“After five years, ang vision ko, sana maging mas efficient pa ‘yung takbo ng opisina,” says Engr. Fernando Eraes Tanciongco, Officer in Charge of the Provincial General Services Office (PGSO).

This hardworking man who aims for a more systematized and organized office was born on June 14, 1968. Together with his wife Irene and their two children Alexandria and Emil, he resides in Calaylayan, Abucay, Bataan.

A product of Balanga Elementary School and Balanga National High School, he earned his degree in Civil Engineering at the Mapua Institute of Technology in Intramuros, Manila.

Not long after he graduated and became a licensed engineer, he immediately worked at the Provincial Government of Bataan (PGB) as Civil Engineer I at the Provincial Engineer’s Office (PEO) in 1990 and at the same time an insurance agent in Cocolife Healthcare Insurance. Fast forward to 2014, he became assistant department head, Provincial General Services Office (PGSO), a position he still holds slash Officer-in-Charge.

Engr. Tanciongco did not think twice and confidently shared to 1Bataan their strategic plans such as: vehicle records management system, systematic inventory of property plant and equipment, procurement management support system, manual of procedures for the PGSO procurement process through canvass, and PGSO automated records management system.

“’Yun ‘yung nagiging kasiyahan ko, parang nagiging magulang nila ako,” he said when asked what is the most fulfilling part of his work. With his guidance, his staff can work efficiently even when he is not physically around.

He compared his vision for his office to a road, that after several years, he hopes they gradually get out of the maze they are in now, and somehow walk in a straight, smooth path. “Dahil sa strategic plans namin na to, mapapadali lahat ng processing sa PGSO,” he added.

There is no stopping him from making sure that their office is really working on attaining their goals, that’s why his time on weekends, the days that should be his time for himself and his family, is sometimes also devoted for work. But after working hours or if he has no more tasks to do on weekends, he spends his time watching television, visiting his parents in their house in Talisay, going to malls and church with his family, and also taking a walk and exercise.

Somebody once said that nowadays, looking for a man of commitment is like looking for a needle in a haystack, but here at the Provincial Government of Bataan, one need not go far. Not only is this man committed, he is also dedicated to his work yet still manages to be a devoted husband, father and son to his family…that’s Engr. Tanciongco.
