Former Hermosa Mayor Antonio Joseph “Jopet” Inton has formally handed over the chairmanship of Bataan Baseco Joint Venture Inc. (BBJVI) to former Metro Pacific Tollways President Rodrigo E. Franco. Despite the transition, Inton remains President and Chief Executive Officer, ensuring continuity in the company’s strategic direction. The turnover marks a significant leadership move for the joint venture as it prepares for major developments in the coming years.
Franco brings extensive corporate experience to BBJVI, having served as President of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Board Director of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation, and Vice President at JPMorgan Chase Investment Bank. His entry strengthens BBJVI’s executive leadership and is expected to enhance governance, performance, and long-term planning for the organization.
BBJVI is located on a 300-hectare property inside the Freeport Area of Bataan in Mariveles. The company is being positioned to drive large-scale development in the area, particularly in sectors involving shipbuilding, repair, and port-terminal operations. Its strategic location makes it a key player in Bataan’s long-term industrial and economic plans.
In recent years, BBJVI has also become active in community development. The company donated ₱5.7 million to the Healthy Paaralan Project in 2024, conducted drug-free and fire-safety awareness campaigns, and distributed school supplies and holiday packs to thousands of families in Mariveles. These initiatives highlight the company’s commitment to social responsibility and local partnership.
Local leaders in Bataan have expressed strong support for BBJVI’s growth plans, particularly in developing port infrastructure, worker housing, and tourism-related projects. With its reinforced leadership team and ongoing preparations, BBJVI is expected to pursue major expansions starting late 2025 and reach new heights by 2026.
