DINALUPIHAN, Bataan – Municipal Mayor Maria Angela S. Garcia this morning led the distribution of P3.1 million worth of BUB projects for 13 groups from different sectors here.
Garcia was joined by Vice Mayor Renato Matawaran and representatives and officials from the DILG, DOLE, TESDA, Department of Agriculture, and the different sectors who are the main beneficiaries of the bottom up budgeting projects.
The beneficiaries were Malasimbo Irrigators Service Association who received P200 thousand worth of thresher and implements; Dalao Farmers Asso. (P120 thousand worth of income generating project); Liaban Group of Farmers Asso. (P32,000 worth of income generating project); Naparing Upland Farmers Asso. (P47,500 worth of income generating project); San Simon Farmers Asso.( P350,000 worth of farm machineries); Samahang Magsasaka ng Old San Jose (P120,000 worth of hand tractor); Tubo Tubo Farmers Asso.
(hand tractor worth P120,000); Luacan Farmers Association (hand tractor worth P120,000); Barangay Pinulot Women’s Club (sewing equipment worth P200,000); Dinalupihan Federation of TODA (motorcycle spare parts and vulcanizing materials worth P621,600); Pagalanggang Rural Improvement Club (P160,800 worth of income generating projects); and P757,600 for other sectors including the drug reformists etc.
Bottom up budgeting is a program created in pursuit of attaining the Philippine Development Plan’s Goal of inclusive growth and poverty reduction and promoting good governance at a local level. It aims to empower civil society organizations and citizen’s groups to engage local government and national government agencies and make them more responsive to the people’s needs.
The local government of Dinalupihan led by Mayor Gila Garcia has proposed projects under the BUB and DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program in order to help the vulnerable and marginalized sectors of the municipality.
The projects initiated by Mayor Garcia also aim to contribute to poverty reduction and reduce vulnerability to risks of the poor, vulnerable and marginalized workers, either through transitional emergency employment or promotion of entrepreneurship and community enterprises.
