BALANGA CITY, Bataan – A former regional communications officer of the defunct National Media Production Center (NMPC) has commended Governor Albert Raymond S. Garcia for his excellent achievements of “leading the economic transformation of Bataan from an agricultural province into a foremost industrial and investment hub in Central Luzon.”
Andrew Vergara, former regional head of NMPC in Central Luzon cited the fiscal metamorphosis giving emphasis on the inclusive growth highlighted by the aggressive and dynamic leadership of Governor Garcia, the author of the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) in Mariveles town which is categorized as one of the fastest growing ecozones in the country.
Vergara explained the economic evolution of Bataan begun during the terms of the late Reps. Pablo Roman and Enrique T. Garcia, Jr. who formulated strategic socio-economic development plans which definitely served as cornerstones toward prosperity.
However, the assumption of Governor Garcia has enhanced the functions of existing economic zones in Mariveles, Limay, Hermosa, Pilar and Morong towns by creating other businesses that are introduced in the localities like malls, schools, housing ,recreational facilities, convenience stores, fast foods and other amenities to support the emerging high-income of the population.
Vergara said these towns are currently the ones relishing the prosperity that is based on the kind of industry the workers enjoy with the benefits of industrial and commercial wages.
The former regional communication officer explained that the local officials should explore the great potential of tourism, now a top-dollar earning industry, particularly Bataan peninsula which is known worldwide for its significant role during the World War ll.
The geographical location of Bataan, an hour drive by car from Balanga City, to the two most progressive economic zones in the country, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) and Clark Ecozone in Angeles City, Pampanga have attracted commercial business proprietors, local and foreign visitors to see historical sites like the Dambana ng Kagitingan in Pilar town and the world-class heritage resort, Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar in Bagac town.
