HERMOSA, Bataan – Municipal Mayor Jopet R. Inton led the awarding of orally fit children from various day care centers at the Hermosa plaza grounds after the traditional Monday flag ceremonies.

Dr. Rolando “Doc Mines” Mina, Department of Health-Dentist Deployment Program (DDP-Hermosa) chief, said the event is in connection with the celebration of the National Dental Health Month of the Philippine Dental Association (PDA).

This year’s celebration runs with a theme: “Ngiping Inaruga Mula Pagkabata, Malusog na Ngiti Baon sa Pagtanda.”

“Awarding po ito ng mga orally fit children, sila yung mga batang walang sira ang ngipin. Ngayong buwan ng Pebrero ipinagdiriwang sa buong Pilipinas ang National Oral Health Month,” Dr. Mina told this reporter in an interview via Messenger.

Inton gave some gifts to children and was witnessed by his wife, Hermosa First Lady and Clark International Airport Corporation Director, Atty. Anne Lorraine Adorable-Inton, various national agencies personnel, municipal government department heads and employees.

The PDA launched this 14th year of the annually-celebrated National Dental Health Month last January 28, 2018 in Quezon City.

This annual observance started in 1951 as National Dental Health Week but in February 24, 2004, and later expanded into a month-long celebration, pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 559 signed by then President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

The observance aims to strengthen public awareness on the importance of the good oral health. It also encourages dentists, students, relevant government agencies, and professional organizations to reach out to more people with no access to dental services, especially those who are in countryside.
