Io Calica does it again!

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – After bringing home the silver medal in the 2016 International Mathematics Wizard Challenge (IMWiC) held at Bangkok, Thailand last July 20-24, 2016, Io Aristotle Nikolai P. Calica, a gifted and Grade III-SPED (fast) student of Balanga Elementary School won again the silver medal at the 2017 IMWiC held in Xiamen, China last May 19-24.

He started joining competitions in Math, Chess, Kumon Math & Reading, and various sports and music contests since 2014. At the age of 8, Io already has a total of 30 medals and 7 trophies.

By far, these are his awards for this year:

* Silver Medalist, Youngster Group (G1&2), International Mathematics Wizard Challenge; May 19-24, 2017; Xiamen, China

*Top scorer/Qualifier, 2017 Young Mathematician In-House Intensive Training Program (YMIITP), Tagaytay City

*Tied for 4th place (in terms of points earned, 5pts/7) and 8th place (out of 57 chess players, 8-10 years of age/U10 boys division) in the Kasparov Chess Foundation Asia Pacific Young Talents Rapid Chess Tournament (w/ 700+ participants); March 26, 2017; The City Club AlphaLand, Ayala Avenue Ext, Makati City.

*Youngest CLRAA Chess delegate (Guiguinto, Bulacan; February 5-10, 2017); 3/7 pts, 19th/40 players.

*Champion/1st Place (Team BES), 2017 Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge (MMC)
