MARIVELES, Bataan – This fast-rising industrial town won a Purple Ribbon Award from the Department of Health (DOH) for exemplary achievement in responsible parenthood and reproductive health.

Local and health officials led by Mayor AJ Concepcion and Vice Mayor Lito Rubia recently presented during a recent flag-raising ceremony the plaques the municipality received for the award.

“The Purple Ribbon Award we received is for the regional level”, said Councilor Tito Catipon.

The Purple Ribbon Award launched by DOH in 2016 aims to recognize local government units (LGUs) as well as civil society organizations for their exemplary practices, accomplishments, and innovations in the implementation of reproductive health and family planning programs.

The award is an affirmation of the continuous programs implemented by the local government in relation to responsible parenthood and reproductive health.
