DINALUPIHAN, Bataan – “You should learn history,” thus said Dinalupihan Mayor Ma. Angela Garcia before a gathering of students, barangay leaders and municipal councilors during Monday’s unveiling of the bust of Francis Burton Harrison inside the town’s multi-purpose hall.
Secretary Francis Tolentino who came to unveil the bust said Harrison was the one responsible for the creation of Dinalupihan and Hermosa towns in 1918 from the original Bagumbayan.
He said only very few Filipinos knew about Harrision who served as Governor General of the Philippines who served the country, died in the United States and wanted to be buried in the Philippines.
Mayor Gila asked future leaders to study history to learn about the future and draw inspiration from the past leaders. “Mahalaga ang pag-aral ng kasaysayan dahil dito tayo kumukuha ng inspirasyon sa pagpapaunlad ng ating pamamalakad ng ating kumunidad,” said the lady town executive.
She said that our youths should learn about the life of Harrison from whom “we can draw inspiration to shape our own destiny.”
The mayor had yet to meet the Sangguniang Bayan members to discuss the issue of the supposed site where to place the bust of Harrison.
