Tess Senora, executive officer of PDRRMC and chief of the Office of Civil Defense, said that although Bataan will not be totally hit and not in the direct path of the typhoon, the Department of Science and Technology, OCD and the Philippine Atmospheric and Geophysical Agency have told them to be prepared.

“Pag-exit sa Friday evening ni Yolanda, baka tamaan din ang lalawigan kaya ngayon pa lamang handa na ang lahat ng involved sa relief and rescue operations lalo na sa mga bayan ng Dinalupihan at Hermosa na flood-prone areas,” Senora said.

She said that Gov. Albert Garcia has cancelled the 22nd anniversary celebration of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines scheduled Friday in Bagac town.

Garcia is chair of PDRRMC.

Senora said that per directive of the governor, she activated all those who trained in Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) operations and divided them into three groups of 10 in three shifts for  24-hour duty.

“Lahat ng resources at gamit sa rescue operations ay nakahanda na rin,” she said.

Senora showed various rescue gears and materials that she said were very expensive. Rescuers were seen readying one of the rubber boats on standby at the PDRRMC ground.
