BALANGA CITY, Bataan – In his radio guesting at Smile Radio 98.3 FM here on Thursday, National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) Regional Corporate Communication Officer Ernest Vidal urged the public to always bear in mind the safety tips they are constantly promoting.
He said the public must not fly kites near transmission lines or climb transmission structures. He advised the public not to build grass fires near or under transmission structures. He added fires may cause power interruption.
Vidal likewise urged the public not to plant trees near transmission structures. He said any incident of tangled branches must be immediately reported to them. Carrying long sticks or any object that might reach or come in contact with the power transmission lines must be avoided as well as putting up antennas near or under transmission lines, he added.
He said houses or any structures must not be built under transmission lines. Vehicles must not also be parked near or under power lines. Vidal assured that NGCP cares about the safety of the public as he urged all to help in maintaining a reliable, safe, and secure transmission system in the country.
NGCP regularly conducts information campaign on the safety of the public. Vidal spearheads the company’s information drive in Central Luzon. Earlier, he stressed that NGCP is a private company operating with an outlook of public service. The company is in charge of operating, maintaining, and developing the country’s power grid. It transmits high-voltage electricity through “power superhighways” that include the interconnected system of transmission lines, towers, substations, and related assets.
