MARIVELES, Bataan – With the growing number of locators so goes the number of workers at the bustling Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) in this industrial coastal town.
Engr. Emmanuel D. Pineda, chairman and administrator of the Authority of Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB), said in 2016, FAB workers were recorded at 32,364; in 2017, 37,975; and as of September 2018, 40,567.
Out of the present total number of workforce at the FAB, 35,116 are from Bataan, while 5,451 are from other regions even as far as Visayas and Mindanao, Pineda said.
To enforce job security, the FAB had encouraged locators to regularize their workers to instill among them the sense of “belongingness in your companies.”
“And this in turn will be very good for business, so I’d like to thank our dear partners in heeding our call to regularize their workers,” said Pineda.
He reports that a laudable increase in the regularization rate of the FAB employees has been recorded from 30 per cent in 2016, jumping to 43.3 per cent in 2017, and 51.4 per cent or more than half of the total number of FAB workers as of September 2018.
