ORANI, Bataan – Mayor Benjamin C. Serrano Jr. obliged for a census interview by a Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Bataan enumerator to show support to the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015), during the Dalaw Barangay Activity in this town last August 14.
The enumerator, Loretta Lyn Quiambao assured Mayor Serrano that data collected during the interview, shall be kept strictly confidential, as mandated by section 26 of Republic Act 10625, despite being held in a public place.
The accomplished questionnaire shall be regarded as Mayor Serrano’s official listing and enumeration in their barangay. Present during the interview were Interim Provincial Statistics Officer Ledesma L. Morante, PSA staff Rosario C. De Leon and Municipal Civil Registrar Virgilio Dionisio.
IPSO Morante was given an opportunity to promote the POPCEN 2015 during the Dalaw Barangay, where she encouraged the people of Orani to entertain the enumerators who will visit them for interview. There are 52 census staff composed of team supervisors and enumerators, hired to ensure the complete enumeration in the municipality.
Raymond Navoa and Rizza Jean Serrano are the hired Census Area Supervisors to oversee the field operation. As chairman of the Municipal Census Coordination Board (MCCB), Mayor Serrano designated the Orani Municipal Conference Hall as venue for the POPCEN 2015 4th Level Training from July 27 to August 1, 2015.
The questions: P1 – Name of the household member; P2 – Relationship to the household head; P3 – Sex; P4 – Date of birth; P5 – Age; P6 – Whether a member’s birth was registered at the LCR Office; P7 – Copy of birth certificate; P8 – Marital status; and P9 – Religious affiliation, are to asked for all persons.
The ongoing POPCEN 2015 is the 14th census of population in the country since the first census in 1903. Moreover, the POPCEN 2015 it is the 3rd population census conducted in between two decennial censuses. Previous to POPCEN 2015, mid-decade censuses were carried out in 1995 and 2007.
