ORION, Bataan – Plans are now afoot for the full implementation of solid waste management program of the municipal government of Orion.

Vice Mayor Virgilio B. Isidro said Mayor Antonio Raymundo had already met with still undisclosed environment care entity, most likely a Singaporean technology, to help the municipal government implement the program.

He said P13 million had been allocated for the purchase of shredder machine and other basic equipment to jump-start the project soon.
The project about seven kilometers away from the town proper is situated on a 13-hectare land owned by the municipal government of Orion near the foot of the historic Mt. Samat Shrines, Isidro explained.

He said the municipal government had been forced to contract the services of Metro Clark Waste Management Corp. but the deal was too costly for the municipal coffer. “We are paying P880 per tons of garbage being hauled by the Metro Clark,” Isidro said.

When completed, Isidro said, the Orion government will save money for other services.
