P 13 million waste recycling plant mulled

ORION,Bataan – Local authorities here  have allocated P 13 million for the establishment of a solid waste management recycling plant in the upland village of General Lim, this town.

Mayor Antonio L. Raymundo, Jr. said the 23 barangays of Orion town have smoothly managed and maintained the material recovery facilities that would facilitate the segregation of biodegradable waste materials.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has implemented a stricter policy in the issuance of Environment Compliance Certificates to ensure that future development projects will not cause significant negative impact on the environment.

Raymundo explained that the reported operation of open pit dumping methods of waste disposal have been prohibited by the government, as a result, the material recovery and composting facility becomes the best alternative for the solid waste management program.

He said about 30 tons of household waste are collected daily which could be converted into organic fertilizer which farmers may, in turn utilize for vegetable production when the plant becomes operational the last quarter of this year.

According to Raymundo the proposed waste facility is expected to be constructed in a-two hectare area in Barangay Lim, a few kilometers away from the town proper.

Local technical environment staff has started evaluating the equipment for the recycling plant including sorting conveyor, sorting platform surge tank, mobile containers with wheels, mobile shredder, discharge conveyor and other vital implements of the waste plant.
