BALANGA CITY, Bataan – A whooping increase of P600M made it to the P2 billion budget of the province for this year 2017, which will mean more programs, more projects and more meaningful services for the people of Bataan.

This was disclosed by Provincial Budget Officer, Mr. Eduardo D. Banzon, who said that the big chunk of the provincial budget comes from the Real Property Taxes (RPT) and the Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA).

The budget officer, added that Gov. Abet Garcia, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan members and the department heads just proved how well they did their work in coming up with the huge budget.

Banzon explained that last year’s budget was only P1.4B, thus the difference of P600M for this year. The RPT last year was only P300M as compared with the P400M RPT now.

This can also be credited, Banzon added to the revision made last year, wherein it was noted that the province is lagging behind in Real Property Taxes collection, thus the Assessor’s Department doubled their efforts in running after the delinquent taxpayers, thus an increase of P100M.

On the other hand, our IRA last year was only P895.7M as compared to what we have now, P1.019B which is based on the land area, population and income of the province.

The best analysis for the increase in the budget according to the budget officer, is that the province has good economy.
