BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office (PCEDO) headed by Mrs. Azucena Sugatain, encourages the creation, development and growth of economically competitive and socially responsible cooperatives as well as micro, small and medium enterprises.

With their sterling performance and belief that they can do more for the economic progress of the province, in 2015, the Investment Promotion Office was attached to PCEDO, promoting further Bataan as an ideal business destination.

To date, PCEDO has not only promoted different cooperatives in the province that have contributed sustainable economic growth but has also conducted diversified programs for them to grow more and expand their coops in different ventures like the Dinalupihan and Bani Multi-purpose Cooperative (MPC) for rice corporate farming; dormitory/housing project for Dynamic MPC and market operation for Maligaya Wet Market MPC. In fact, as of March this year, PCEDO has already released, P36.6M as new capitalization for other cooperatives.

ย What is more remarkable is that, PCEDO does not only deal with highly competitive cooperatives, but is also focused on assisting struggling coops.

According to Mrs. Sugatain, they are now into the preparation of project studies to be implemented in poor barangays and other marginalized sectors of the society. Sugatain added that, they have already conducted assessment of livelihood opportunities in Brgy. Quinawan, Bagac, a far flung barangay for profiling. They have met with the barangay Quinawan cashew processors with PhilMec for quality processing and marketability of their products and now facilitating a barangay resolution on the use of existing buildings or any other structures as well as well as provided them orientation on how to start a business.

To give more incentives to the cooperatives and for them to give their best, PCEDO launched last April (2017) their search for outstanding cooperatives to be conferred with โ€œGaling Bataan Awardsโ€ in time for the celebration of cooperative month.
