BALANGA CITY, Bataan – In an effort to sustain the current development of the risk reduction program, Governor Abet Garcia sees the need to reorganize the composition of the Provincial Management Council to reduce the harmful effects of disaster through preparedness, planning, training and reiterating its power and functions.

Bataan is frequently hit by calamities due to its geographical location, exposing the people to risks during and after the calamities, that Governor Garcia with PDRRMO officer, retired PNP director Audie Atienza, will conduct a 3-day seminar/workshop come Sept. 20-22, 2017 at the Crown Royale Hotel, this city to train new members and refresh/reactivate other members, to conceptualize new plans and effective methods consistent with national planning programs.

Through the seminar, members will be abreast with the integration of risk reduction climate change adoption to local development plan as well as the implementation of force or pre-emptive evacuation of residents if necessary, among other activities of the group, according to the Governor.

The inclusion of new member organizations, such as the Bataan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (BACCI), Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE), Soroptimists, Rotary Club, Lions Club and React Phils. Inc., is with the hope that these organizations will actively take part and effectively coordinate efforts on disaster mitigation, preparedness, response and rehabilitation activities of the PDRRMO.

The PDRRMO is chaired by Governor Abet Garcia with Vice Chairpersons from DOST (prevention and mitigation), DILG (preparedness), DSWDO (response) and PPDO (rehabilitation and recovery) with other department heads, SP members and other government offices as members.
