In its aim to promote digital payments in Bataan, Governor Joet Garcia led the launching of the PalengQR at the Hermosa Public Market, last January 27.
“Gusto po natin isulong ito dahil napakalaki ng maitutulong at kinakailangan nating yakapin dahil nagiging high tech na rin ang mga bagay at pinapadali ang ating buhay,” Gov. Garcia said in his message.
PalengQR Program is also in support to the efforts of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in promoting cashless payments in the country particularly in local transportation and public markets.
In his message, Hermosa Mayor Jopet Inton said, “napakaswerte natin ngayong araw at matututo na tayo ng electronic payments system para hindi na natin kailangang magdala ng cash.”
The Provincial Government of Bataan (PGB), through the Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office, in cooperation with Maya App, a private digital payment platform, provide an additional option in paying in public markets through this digital wallet which has started in the municipality of Samal last September, 2022.
“Makakaasa po kayo sa buong suporta namin sa digitalization goals ng Probinsya ng Bataan,” Maya Philippines, Inc. Ms. Jarette Aotriz responded.
Also present in the event was Social Security System Luzon Central 1 Division Vice President Vilma Agapito, who encouraged Hermosa stall owners to register in SSS as they created a booth for registration particularly for this occasion.
Smart Telecomunications, Inc. also put up a booth for stall owners interested to register their SIM Cards as mandated by RA 11934.
Hermosa Market Stall Owners President Mr. Luciano Montemayor thanked everyone who have reached out to them, especially their local government unit, in creating opportunities for small entrepreneurs.
