PHO leads World Malaria Day celebration

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The Provincial Government of Bataan through the Provincial Health Office (PHO) headed by Dr. Rosanna Buccahan led this year’s celebration of the World Malaria Day this morning, April 25, at La Vista Inland Resort, this City.

The event started at the Earthfield Subdivision, this City with a parade of floats made by the different municipalities of this province. They all headed to La Vista Inland Resort for the program proper.

The program started with a doxology, National Anthem, and Bataan hymn led by the Koro Bangkal Magbikin. Afterwards, welcome remarks were given by Dr. Rosanna Buccahan followed by the acknowledgement of the participants then an audio visual presentation of the PHO. Inspirational messages were also delivered by Dr. Rhodora Cruz (Regional Malaria Medical Coordinator), Asec. Enrique Tayag (Director IV, Bureau of Local Health System Development), and Gov. Albert S. Garcia.

Also present were Hon. Noel Valdecanas (SP on Health), Ms. Perlita Ortiguerra (Provincial Malaria Coordinator), Ms. Rosellyn Joy Malit (Regional Malaria Nurse Coordinator), Hon. Ma. Angela Garcia (Municipal Mayor-Dinalupihan), Hon. Gene dela Fuente (Municipal Mayor-Samal), Amy Dela Rosa (SB on Health-Samal), and Jeff Nisay (SP on Health-Balanga)

A video presentation of the best practices of the municipality of Dinalupihan and an accomplishment presentation of the municipality of Hermosa were also shown.

While having lunch, the Koro Bangkal Magbikin gave a special number followed by the awarding of certificates to the retired Malaria Personnel. After that, winners of the float contest were awarded: the municipality of Pilar got the 3rd place, the municipality of Samal got the 2nd place, and the municipality of Dinalupihan was hailed as champion.
