BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The accreditation of Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) Peninsulares Research Ethics Committee (PREC) by the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) is a milestone for the university, said a top university official.
“This is a milestone given the stringent process required for the accreditation”, said BPSU Director for Research and Development Dr. Hermogenes Paguia.
“The members of PREC underwent difficult workshops from research ethics experts from UP Manila”, he said.
“All members of the committee have shown utmost dedication devoting extra time and effort for this achievement especially PREC Chairperson Dr. Ronnell D. Dela Rosa”, he added.
“Dr. Dela Rosa has his hands full being the Dean of the Graduate School, nevertheless showed zealousness and focused leadership for the committee to hurdle the accreditation”, also said Paguia who serves as adviser of the committee.
“Of course this cannot be done without the support of BPSU President Dr. Greg Rodis and Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training Services Dr. Rudy Flores”, he said.
BPSU PREC is the fourth among State Universities and Colleges (SUC) ethics committees and 2nd in Region 3 given accreditation by PCHRD.
Aside from Dela Rosa, other members of BPSU PREC are Joerald M. Gadia, Vice Chairperson; Ma Florinda O. Rubiano, Secretary; John Kerby Amanonce, Secretariat; Dr. Felicisima E. Tungol; Daniel R. Bawan; Dr. Ricson L. Ines; Dr. Sunshine S. Talavera; Lorna Roberts Roldan; Gloria R. Pangon (independent member); and this writer (independent member).
The committee is tasked to review researches to ensure these are done in accordance with international and national guidelines, local laws, standards of professional conduct and practice and community morals, values and needs.
BPSU PREC was recently awarded Accreditation Certificate Level 1 during the PCHRD 36th Anniversary celebration held at the Philippine International Convention Center, Pasay City.
