PSA Bataan joins Mariveles mass wedding

MARIVELES, Bataan – “Sa kasal na ito, magiging legitimate na ang inyong mga anak at magiging anak. Napakahalaga na lehitimo ang mga anak dahil dito nila kukunin ang kanilang karapatan. Bukod dito, bilang kawani ng Philippine Statistics Authority, mahalaga na malaman ninyo ang tamang pagrerehistro ng kasal at kapanganakan” said by PSA Bataan staff Jessie V. Garcia during the Mass Weding entitled “I do” which is an outreach project of Municipal Mayor Jessie I. Concepcion and Sangguniang Bayan in cooperation with Municipal Civil Registrar’s Office held at Heroes Hall Poblacion, Mariveles, Bataan on June 26, 2015.

There were 35 couples who were wed by Mayor Concepcion. He asked the couples to hold hands tightly during the wedding rites, which was the highlight of the activity. Mass wedding is one of the civil registration activities that the local civil registry offices hold to aside from Mobile registration and information dissemination to school.

Municipal Civil Registrar Roseller R. Romero was very happy with the outcome of the mass wedding. He sees this activity as opportunity to deliver civil registry service closer to people. Thus, she requested Ms. Garcia to speak about timely and correct registration PSA, formerly known as the National Statistics Office (NSO) carries out, enforces and administers the Commonwealth Act 3753 in the delivery of civil registration services as directed by Republic Act 10625, while the local registrar shall keep and preserve in the office civil registry documents which include marriages as mandated by CA 3753.
