CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Bataan Provincial Statistical Office was named Best in Partnership and Linkages at the 2015 PSA Awards, besting 79 provinces during the awards rites held at the Heritage Hotel, Pasay City on December 10, 2015.
Provincial Statistics Officer Ledesma L. Morante was both thankful and surprised while receiving the trophy. PSA Bataan did not place in Best in Partnership and Linkages category in previous years. Partnership in Linkages is an area in the office’s performance that involves coordination and cooperation with public and private organizations in conducting and/or participating in activities geared towards upholding the mission of PSA.
Within the 2015 PSA Awards rating period from October 2014 to September 2015, PSA Bataan conducted various activities that contributed to this achievement. PSA staff planted mangroves at the Balanga City and Nature Park, Tortugas, Balanga City, Bataan in 4 quarters December 2014, March, June and September 2015, as the office’s corporate social responsibility.
The partnership with the schools and universities in Bataan during the holding of Philippine Statistics Quiz in November 2014 and acceptance of on-the-job training, likewise garnered points for the criteria of the award.
PSA awards is given in recognition of the exemplary performance of the PSA field offices nationwide in accomplishing numerous activities in the area of statistical operation, statistical planning and coordination, statistical frameworks and indicator system, civil registration, information dissemination, financial and administrative, and partnership and linkages. Thus, PSA gave away awards to regional offices and provinces which performed best in each area.
In the past three years, PSA Bataan consistently placed as 2nd Best in Civil Registration in 2012, 2013, and 2014 when top 5 provinces were awarded in each category.
