ORION, Bataan – After conducting a trial run of the proposed ferry-bus transportation system from Bataan to Manila and vice versa last May 9, a public hearing was held yesterday, October 24, 2017, at the Port of Orion.
“Hopefully after a long wait, magkakaroon na po ng katuparan yung hinihintay nating ferry,” Gov. Abet said as he started his message. Present were representatives from the Magic Leaf Marine Logistics Corporation, Vice Gov. Cris Garcia, SP Board Members, Atty. Joey Angeles, SB and vice mayors from some municipalities, Orani Mayor Bondjong Pascual, PGB department heads, members of private sectors and academe, media, and other concerned sectors.
The public hearing for the said project is one of the processes that a Public-Private Partnership Ordinance goes through. Through this, the whole proposed project will be transparent, above board, and truly beneficial to the private and public sectors as well the general public.
One of this transport system’s objectives is to bring Bataan closer by 45 minutes to Manila. With this, more opportunities like call centers, tourism, agriculture products, leisure, and more will be easily accessible.
An open forum was held to further analyze the details of the project. Topics that were brought up were (1) where will the drop-off points of bus all over the province be (from Orion to Dinalupihan, Orion to Mariveles), (2) will there be additional baggage fees, (3) exact amount of fares, (4) security, safety, and accessibility upon reaching Manila.
All of these and other concerns are being closely looked at and analyzed by the people from the PPP, in which they have promised to do their best to provide excellent quality of service to the public.
