ABUCAY, Bataan– Representative Jose Enrique S. Garcia lll of the second Congressional District of Bataan has urged farmers and barangay officials to develop a systematic agricultural method of increasing farm productivity.
Representative Garcia explained the expansion of manufacturing plants, commercial establishments, housing and warehouse projects, and labor–intensive micro-small-medium entrepreneurs in several designated industrial estates have heightened the demand for agricultural crops.
Garcia cited the thrust of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) that is to ensure faster and better implementation of various irrigation projects and provision of sustainable and reliable irrigation services to farmers in Bataan.
He added the unprecedented progress of Bataan is the outcome of the long-range economic development plan envisioned by the local government to make the historic peninsula a premier industrial hub in Central Luzon.
The former Balanga City mayor said the advantages of the farmers and residents in the countryside are availability of rich fertile lands suited for high-value crops, good quality infrastructure, irrigation facilities and ready market for the growing population.
The influx of workers and their families in the seven economic zones has fueled the improvement of farming communities in Bataan and other food security measures to feed the expanding labor markets.
