BALANGA CITY, BataanBataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) President Dr. Greg Rodis wants farmers be able to use all technologies available for sustainable agriculture.
“Kung ano mga klaseng technology na pwedeng gamitin ng mga farmers at goat raisers sana magamit na nila”, the university president stressed in vernacular in his welcome remark during the opening of the 2-day 1st Goat Fiesta in the province here on Tuesday.
“That is the challenge”, he emphasized.
BPSU through the leadership of Rodis is pushing for sustainable agriculture in the province.
Gov. Abet Garcia led the Fiesta opening graced by Senator JV Ejercito and Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos. PCAARRD OIC Deputy Executive Director for Administration, Resource Management, and Support Services Dr. Melvin B. Carlos and BPSU Acting Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training Services Dr. Hermogenes Paguia also attended the event.
Activities in the Fiesta include goat show, exhibits, technology pitching, and cooking contest, among others. About 1,000 farmers mostly goat raisers supported the opening of the event.
Initiated by PCAARRD, FIESTA (Farmers Encounters through the Science and Technology Agenda) serves as a strategy to facilitate not only the flow of agricultural and aquatic food products from the farm to the market, but also to enhance the flow of technology generated from government laboratories to the farmers as primary beneficiaries of research and development initiatives.
The Goat Fiesta was organized by CLAARRDEC, the provincial government of Bataan, and BPSU.
