BALANGA CITY, Bataan – National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana graced this year’s tribute to the World War II veterans held at the Bataan Capitol Grounds on Friday as part of the annual commemoration of Day of Valor (Araw ng Kagitingan).
Lorenzana shared his life experiences particularly on how he has been exposed to a culture of bravery and greatness while on service, just as how the veterans were involved during the Japanese occupation in Bataan 76 years back.
Conversely, he laid the improved services and programs of the Duterte administration toward veterans and their families, focusing on health.
He proudly announced that if before, patients take home only the medical prescription after consultation, now there are already medicines in the Veterans Memorial Medical Center due to the allotted Php18-Million budget per month.
Meanwhile, the crowd was entertained by the superb performances of the Philippine Military Bands comprising the armed forces, air force and marine.
The ceremony was attended by local government officials headed by, Gov. Albert S. Garcia, Vice Gov. Cris Garcia, 2nd district Rep. Joet Garcia, 1st district Rep. Geraldine Roman, municipal mayors, different agencies, and the veterans and/or their families.
