SGD underscored during 28th NSM closing ceremony

PILAR, Bataan – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Bataan Provincial Statistical Office, through its guest speaker, Supervising Statistical Specialist Elna Ruth Casasola of PSA Regional Statistical Services Office III, discussed the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) during the 28th National Statistics Month (NSM) Closing Ceremony held at Crown Royale Hotel, Balanga City, Bataan on October 26, 2017.

The discussion emphasized the importance of statistics in achieving Ambisyon 2040, which exemplifies this year’s theme of NSM “FACTS AND FIGURES FOR THE FUTURE: Statistics for evidence-based Decision towards Ambisyon Natin 2040”.

Chief Statistical Specialist Ledesma L. Morante, PSA Bataan expressed her appreciation for the support elicited from other agencies to make this year’s celebration more visible. Another highlight of the 28th NSM Closing Ceremony is the presentation of the result of 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015) Demographic Characteristics of Bataan. Supervising Statistical Specialist Francisco P. Corpuz, at one point of his lecture, cited how young the province’s population is, with mean age of 25.0. Registration Officer II Maria Rosario C. Dela Rosa gave a background presentation on the conduct of POPCEN 2015.

Culminating the series of research presentations for the 28th NSM, researchers of DepED Bataan, Education Program Specialist II Ronaldo A. Punla and Master Teacher Jennifer G. Cruz, presented their researches about Disaster Risk Management.

The participants were from various sectors in education, agriculture, labor, health, government service and others.

Prior to the closing ceremony, Lecture on Health and Civil Registration was conducted at PSA Bataan Training Room, Bataan Government Center, Pilar, Bataan on October 18, 2017.

1.    Chief of Hospital, Ma. Lourdes L. Evagelista of Mariveles Mental Hospital discussed Mental Health Statistics.

2.    Statistician I Will Ann M. Garcia, Provincial Planning and Development Office on the other hand presented Spatial Report of the Province’s Data on Mortality (2013-2016).

Other PSA Bataan employees were assigned to discuss the result of various surveys of PSA.

1.    Statistical Specialist II Richard T. Guevara provided information dissemination of the result of Household Survey on Domestics Visitors at PSA Bataan Training Room, Bataan Government Center, Pilar, Bataan on October 24, 2017.

2.    Statistical Analyst Rosario C. De Leon and Registration Officer II Maria Rosario C. Dela Rosa, shared the results of 2013 National Demographic and Health Survey in two parts during sessions at PSA Bataan Training Room, Bataan Government Center, Pilar, Bataan on October 18 and 25, 2017, respectively.

With the aim to generate participation from other agencies, the invited reactors gave inputs in their respective sessions, Municipal Civil Registrar Josefina E. Cortez, of LGU Samal; Chapter Administrator Charlie M. Gatbonton, Philippine Red Corss; Administratve Services Officer IV Juliet R. Abad, PagIBIG Fund; and Tourism Operations Officer Danica Lolita C. Tigas, Provincial Tourism Office.

 

The NSM is aimed to: a) promote, enhance and instill nationwide awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of society: and b) elicit cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standard of statistics in the country.
