Social entrepreneurship discussion held

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – “There are only two formulas: education and entrepreneurship.” These words echoed Bayan Academy for Social Entrepreneurship and Human Resources, Inc. Chairman Dr. Eduardo A. Morato Jr.’s keynote speech during the social entrepreneurship discussion held at the Bataan Tourism Center Audio-Visual Room this afternoon.

With the theme “Building the Nation through Social Entrepreneurs: A Call for Bataan’s Social Entrepreneurs,” said discussion aimed to emphasize that in order to solve poverty, the government should invest in hospitality and health industries because they excel in promoting inclusive and value-added based growth and development in both urban and rural areas. According to Dr. Morato, these have a high multiplier effect that may benefit not only the workers and their families, but more importantly the economy of the nation. He furthered that if creating jobs for the residents is the only objective instead of creating industries, we may obtain a great province but not a great country. He topped off his presentation by reminding the audience to choose inclusive businesses that are for-profit enterprises which go beyond generating economic values by deliberately creating social impact.

Meanwhile, Ateneo Graduate School of Business Professor Ramon C. Jocson supported Dr. Morato’s keynote through his talk about AGSB-ME Contribution in Building the Nation.

The said discussion was attended by municipal mayors, representatives of select departments and organizations, with the presence of 2nd District Congressman Jose Enrique S. Garcia III and Bataan Vice Governor Ma. Christina Garcia.
