Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Renato U. Solidum Jr. lauded on Wednesday (March 22, 2023) the state-run Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) for holding the “Spark Kagitingan” Summit at the Bataan Peoples Center.

Solidum said innovation and entrepreneurship are very important in technology because technology ignites innovation.

“Nagagalak ako dahil ito’y sinisimulan nyo na dito sa Bataan,” he told students of BPSU.

Solidum challenged the students whom he described as “mga bata at matatalino” to change the addictive content of rugby used in industrial shops to eradicate drug addiction among the youths.

His parting words to the youth: “Sa siyensa, teknolohiya at edukasyon buhay nyo ay gaganda at may pag-asa.”

Solidum was accompanied by Bataan Gov. Joet Garcia to the BPSU for lunch.

The DOST top honcho was briefed by Nelson S. Andres, dean of the university’s college of engineering, on the proposed mono-rail project being developed by a team of engineers there.
