BALANGA CITY, Bataan – South African Ambassador to the Philippines, Martin Slabber hosted a breakfast meeting with some 20 member-officers of the Bataan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (BACCII) headed by Mr. Orlie dela Pena, Vice President, at the Plaza Hotel yesterday.

In his message, His Excellency, Martin Slabber said that South Africa’s relationship with the Philippines is relatively new and it has been his objective, not to focus his energy in Manila, but to travel to different provinces in order to familiarize himself with communities to see if there’s a need to extend their activities to different regions outside the city.

The good Ambassador gave a glimpse of South Africa’s history and later focused on their economy that according to him, mining has been the backbone of their economy, allowing South Africa to be the most advanced and biggest in the African continent that relies on technology and innovation in their mining industry.

Ambassador Slabber also said that he has been to 76 provinces in the country and is really amazed on the diversity of our foods, products and tourism attractions in the different regions. Here in Bataan, he has been to Bagac at Las Casas; Mariveles, amidst the sprawling factories, went to communities, mingled with people and children and had the feel of the place.

Drawing a closer relationship with the BACCII, Slabber invited the group to take part in their forthcoming Trade Fair on Oct. 5-8, 2017 at the World Trade Center and their Agricultural Expo on Nov. 8-11, 2017 as well as encouraged the group to have a trade mission to South Africa.
