Tauli thankful for decongesting Bataan District Jail

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Bataan District Jail Warden Jail Superintendent Andrew Tauli is thankful for the court’s plea bargaining scheme that drastically reduced the number of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) inside jail.
“We have 2,000 PDLs before but now it is only about 1,300. The scheme decongests the Bataan District Jail”, he said.
Through a plea bargaining, those charged with lesser crimes such as using illegal drugs, were afforded the legal remedy of admitting to a misdemeanor so that they may go free after having served a long time in detention waiting for their cases to be resolved.
The judiciary officers are aware of the heavily congested condition of jails in the country.
“It is good that we can now decongest jails”, pointed out Tauli.
