ABUCAY, Bataan – A Technology Innovation Center for the products of mango, mushroom, and buko will be established in Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) Abucay Campus.
“Officials of the Department of Agriculture (DA) Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) saw our innovative mango products during a recent agri exhibit in the campus and they were quite impressed”, said BPSU Research Development Director and Project Leader Dr. Hermogenes Paguia.
The mango products were developed as a component of the existing BPSU and Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Discovery-Applied Research and Extension for Trans/Inter-disciplinary Opportunities) Research Grant (DARE TO) project entitled, “Sustainable Mango Production through Science and Technology Innovations and Support Mechanisms for Capacity Development in Central Luzon”.
Commercialising innovative mango products is being offered as an alternative for mango growers when the price of mango fruit dives down.
DA BAR officials agreed to provide P5 million fund for the center”, said Pagiua.
“Aside from mango products, the Technology Innovation Center will be also for mushroom and buko products likewise being developed in Abucay campus”, he also said.
