About eight municipalities highlighted their floats on Friday, which include Balanga City, Abucay, Hermosa, Samal, Orion, Limay, Morong and Mariveles. Some of the float themes include the different highlighted native products, the job opportunities that Bataan is offering the people like the Freeport of Bataan (FAB) in Mariveles. The city of Balanga likewise highlights the float that represents a futuristic concept using recycled materials in silver color aiming to achieve the goal of Balanga until 2020.
Also participating the parade are the military units with their military trucks, the beautiful contestants of the Mutya ng Balanga 2011 (Miss Balanga) displaying their lovely faces on their float, the Marshall units of Balanga City and the Korean group, Life March, wearing colorful outfits and displayed their dance performance with their drums and lire that attracted the people.
The parade ended at the Capitol Quadrangle Compound, Balanga City, wherein the guests of honors and hundreds of Veterans members anticipated the different floats in front of the Capitol main building. Some of the expected guest speakers include Balanga City Mayor Joet Garcia, 2nd District Congressman Abet S. Garcia and Honorable Ernesto G. Carolina, the Officer-in-Charge of the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO).
The event theme: Beterano – Huwaran Ng Lahing Pilipino (Veterans – Role Models of the Filipino Races) honors the courage that the Filipino heroes had shown when they fought against the Japanese colonizers. The event was made possible through the effort of the Provincial Capitol of Bataan and the Bataan Tourism Council Foundation.
Inside the compound, many visitors likewise enjoy visiting the Bulwagan Compound where different stalls are offering various native products that are proudly made in Bataan. Some of the products include dried fish, special delicacies, souvenir shirts, key chains, slippers, home decors made of capiz, recycled bags, noodles made from veggies and more. The celebrations will continue until April 9, wherein the organizers are expecting thousands of visitors and foreign delegates to attend the gathering in Mt. Samat, Bataan.
