Transparency is the key

LIMAY, Bataan – Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Undersecretary Arturo Valdez called for transparency during the Multipartite Monitoring Team (MMT) meeting amid the problem of ash fall, and coal residue linked to ailments on a number of residents of a community.

At the MMT meeting also attended by Governor Abet Garcia, Mayor Lilvir Roque, representatives of Petron and San Miguel Corp and other stakeholders, residents were given the chance to express their concerns and sentiments, which the group especially DENR, Health Office, Petron and San Miguel took note and assured them that all these are being taken care of.

At this point, Undersecretary Valdez said that if only transparency was practiced, these concerns would have been properly addressed and would have not been blown-up and even contained within the area.

Governor Abet Garcia emphasized that the Provincial Health Office will continue its medical services to the people of Barangay Lamao in coordination with the barangay and LGU health centers.
